Hi our church just built a new sanctuary, super nice, great equipment. The big problem is the building is very reverberant and lots of echo. I am trying to find a reasonable cost solution to help this. The ceiling is the exposed open with all the ventilation showing(all black and cool industrial looking). I believe we are going to need to hang a series of panels in the ceiling to cut down on the natural reverb that is going on as well put some panels on various walls to help alot. Any ideas of a reasonable cost solution to this?
Also, I have access to a lot of partitions(like in offices) and I was interested in knowing what you guys think of using them to help cut down on reflections. I have about 20 5x4 and 10 5x2 and then I have about 100+ small panels 2x2 2x4 (about 2 inches thick) also. I was wondering if pursuing this would be even worth it. I can get them dirt cheap. If anyone needs anymore info and specifics let me know.. I really appreciate any ideas. Thanks Jason |

It's amazing that architects and contractors put those kinds of buildings up with no thought at all to the acoutics. I just saw a new building the other day at a church where I used to go. Same problem. They had to add all these 2X2 panels on the vaulted ceiling. But it did work. Sounded much better tha when I was in there last year right after it was finished.
