I am wondering when it comes to acousticaly treating a room is there a different approach for i you are intending to use that room as a recording room than if you are using it as your mixing/critical listening space.
I am starting a recording project in a reasonably large room soon. I do not own this space i will be recording in so i can only make temporary changes to the room. It is aprox 15Mtr By 13Mt (i can get more accurate details if anyone needs them) The room is a rectangular shape somewhat. This is the best sounding room i have access to for this project. I will be doing 4 to 5 whole day sessions in it...first 3 day sessions will be recording acoustic guitar,Bass,Drums (mostly mic'd) Im wondering what kind of treatments i should be thinking about for this and what part of the room should i do the recording in? Somewhere near the centre? If it will help i can get some photos of the room and more specific data. I have never attempted any acoustic modifications to a room and would love any help anyone can offer. All the modifications i will be able to do will need to be very budget )ie either very cheap or just household stuff) Thanks, Now i have read through "acoustic design for the home studio" by mitch gallagher. |
