Beyond the "Tissue Paper Mod", I'm clueless on how to improve a NS10

Sorry.

The NS10 has an approx 7 dB peak at 1-2k, and this mod helps to tame this. I've never tried it, YMMV.

I heard a rumor (before they canned Yamaha canned them) that they were going to come out with a version of the NS10 that already had the kleenex mod done to it. Of course they weren't going to call it that but that was esentially what it was.

Anybody else here that or was that just urban legend?

I read a rant some time ago by a mastering engineer about ns-10's. It was very interesting. He said 75% of what he gets was mixed on ns-10's and he can tell which ones with 100% accuracy because they suck.

Most people disagree and say "everybody who's anybody uses them", and "they are innacurate because most people boost the midrange to much." I have never listened to a pair, so I can't really comment on their sound.

I just think its funny how people to this day spend a fortune on ns-10's knowing there are more accurate monitors out there for half the price of a used set. And an abundance of ns-10 users don't even like the way they sound.
