quick question. how sound proofed does a booth have to be in order to really make some difference? one of my friends told me that he went into a studio and when he went into the booth it felt extremely air tight. and everything felt much more thinner as far as acoustics.. but then also i have herd people say that sound proofing doesnt mean anything. can u guys give me some extremely proofessional solutions to sound proofing as well as some more affordable onces. and also what do u guys think of when people talk about sound proof.

"sound proof" doesn't exist. "sound isolation" does in varying degrees. in general, if you can achieve 50db of real isolation (meaning low frequency as well as the normal STC/NRC ratings), you would be in good shape. once you hit the 50db mark, structure borne transfer ("flanking") takes over from air borne sound and the cost of improving the isolation begins to increase dramatically.

"extremely professional" sound isolation is expensive. what's your budget? if you have $5K-$10K to spend on an isolation booth, you can probably have extreme. if you want something reasonable like $2K-3K, you can probably hit the 45-50db mark. if you can live with about 38-40db isolation, you can probably hit that with a $750-$1K budget. doors and windows being the biggest part of proper visibility, access, and isolation loss.
