We're using a converted nursery as a studio. I'd like to add some sound absorbers or something to help with the acoustics, but I'm not sure what to do or where to do it.
We usually record vocals in front of the desk facing the monitors... I don't know if that's the best place for them.
I'll load some pictures of the studio. Here are the measurments:
This corner is a closer shot of where we usually record our vocals.
The reason we record them there is so they can see the waveforms in the edit window and match their timing with the other vocals or instruments that are already recorded.
Your going to want to change things around in your room. Locate the mix spot (where you sit) to be facing the short wall but 38% back from the wall. At 21.5 feet that should put your mix spot about 8 feet from the front wall. Move the vocal to the rear of the room. At that point you want to straddle as many corners as possible with bass trapping and cover the early reflection points with panels.
