I am tring to find software to help me edit a voicemail from my cell phone. It does not need to connect to my phone b/c I can just record it and put it on my computer. But what software should I use to clean up the background noise and make the voices more clear?

Is the audio noisy? Breaking up?

To clear up audio frequency wise, you need some EQ. To get rid of noise you need some noise reduction software.

You would need an editor like reaper or audacity whch would give you EQ which you can use to get rid of hums & noise. the voice band is 400hz to 3khz, so concentrate there.

I do not know of any freeware noise reduction plug ins, there are packs from Waves & Steinberg but they tend to be expensive.
