I shall snatch me a pair. I mentioned long ago that they were once 89 and I wasn't going to spend 10 more bucks for them because I'm cheap. I'm glad I waited.

Damnit, I hate the fact that they won't ship to Canada! On their website, it says "Due to manufacturers restrictions", but that is BS, because 8thstreet, as an example will ship to Canada no problem along with most other retailers!

Dusy, excellent use of snatch in a sentence.

Smatty, I think the problem is that there's more paperwork involved when shipping across the lines to Canada.

Do you really think these are better? They're a pretty good price acctually, maybe I should look at those instead... I was also looking at these: http://www.8thstreet.com/product.asp?ProductCode=6620&Category=Monitoring

Smatty,

I've got the Sony's and they're definitely "hyped" IMO especially on the high end but, I'm pretty comfortable with them.

I'm considering picking up a pair of the E/I cans for singers etc. to eliminate the dreaded click track bleed through.

If they just marked "gift" on their packages they wouldn' really run into any problems. My work ships to canada and that's all we do. That way you don't pay customs or taxes on them. Thena gain MF is huge and probably couldn't get away with that for long

Well I guess hyped isn't always the best thing, but it does depend on what you're used to Wink

As for MF, I'm sure there are 101 ways they could work around it, but it's obviously not worth they're while for the time being. They're such a large company that the extra business might not be worth it considering that Canada is about 10% of the US population wise... They're probably looking at it in terms of 10% sales increase, minus the 3-5% it will cost them to deal with the cross border issue, and at the end of the day it's just not high enough on the priority list.

Oh well! They're are lots of other great online shops... just that MF has some smokin' deals once in a while...

This sounds like a great deal, im just not interested in all that shipping, but i dont have a lot of money to blow to get it up to the free shipping rate. all of the cali residents need to place one big order for headphones then distribute later.

I think they took the South Park movie a little too seriously. Or maybe Canadian Bacon with John Candy?

Anyone? ANyone?

I'd use the "price match" policy and go with another mail order co. that will ship up north. Wink

Hmmm, I wonder if that would work if they knew MF wasn't a competitor.

Warren,

Don't know but I've had good luck with Sam Ash beating any "advertised" price and then some, including tax which they're obligated to charge...being a retail outlet here in Fla.

I just checked the E/I web site and they've got them priced at $139.00.

I think this month's equip. tab is about to increase.

The Isolation cans are just one of those cool products that comes along and smacks ya. I use 'em all the time during tracking, but I prefer my AKG 141S for checking mixes.

Yeah, the Isolations = no more click track. The thing I like is I can track drums without cranked headphones on just killing my ears! Lower volumes become possible.

Go for it.

j,

I didn't think of the fact they're relatively new to the mass retail market...it might take some research to find another distributor with the policy.

I got my first MF catalog in 1995, and they appeared to be well established at that time. Anyone know how long they've been around? Most companies like that START OFF by shipping to canada... I don't see whats taken 8 years!

Perhaps a way around this would be to find an online music store that matches (or beats!) prices and order from them. I've never actually used the "we'll match" policy before, but I doubt they are lieing. I got a coupon for 10% off anything at Sweetwater... So I am saving my pennies for a MiniMe... go me.

That's a great idea, I'm going to have to find someone else that sells those....

As for gift taxes, yes, I am just realizing that a relative sent me a CD recently, and I had to pay $5 at the post office.

Acctually, MF used to ship to Canada! I used to get their catalogue, but they stopped sending it one year.
