Sytek MPX4aii with the optional Burr Browns on channels 3 and 4. Nice clean, detailed sound and the Burr Browns add a slightly warmer, smoother, silkier sound still with the good detail and basic characteristics of ch. 1 and 2. Has phase reversal, mute, 48v phantom and peak indicator on each of the four channels and plenty of gain. The knobs and connectors on the Sytek are more solid than on my Neve Porticos and API. These are a good deal for the quality of preamp you get especially when you consider the cost per channel. They don't pop up used very much and will set you back a grand as new.


Has some rack rash from screws and a few minor scrapes and dings from being moved through different racks and studio spaces but has always been racked otherwise, with some space around it for proper ventilation as the Sys do warm a little bit when powered up (but not as much as a tube pre...). This is all no big deal but I know some people are fussy and I don't want there to be surprises. Looks good racked with proper screws and washers, operates as it should, sounds great. I'm not sure where the original box is at the mo. If I find it I'll use it for shipping, otherwise I have a slightly larger box that frankly will allow me to use more packing material so no biggie there at all. I'm sad to see it go but I have other great pres and need the money more than the Sytek.
