I was impressed! I've ordered a matched pair too.

I was thinking of getting some ECM8000's to see if i like the whole tiny omni vibe, and these are cheaper plus its supporting some little guy that makes them himself rather than some multinational manufacturing in a chinese sweatshop...

I thought the sound clips on the mic sales page sounded pretty good too.

The acoustic sounds nice...I don't like it on your voice at all. You sing purty like a bird...you need something airy...something in the C12/251 continuum.

Heya Pop. Im with you. I have no intention of using it again on my voice. I am however taking donations for a C12/251 (just so you know)

actually on listening to it again, i'm with you on the lack of air in the voice sound, but i wonder if different placement and mixing could make these sound pretty good and airier on your voice.

to me it felt like the tops from the guitar were masking the air in the voice a bit.

its a really nice performance!

how was it recorded? placement? guitar and voice together or separately?

Tom,

It was just a quickie 2 take. Vox and guitar, one after the other. I have no doubt I could get air from the mics. I didnt want to add anything to the tracks for experimentation purposes though. I did cut a tad. The mics put out a rather large "bottom". I also wouldnt use these on very quiet sources, as the noise ratio isnt the greatest.

Well, I got mine in the mail today and this is a damn good use of $20.

I didn't realize how small the thing was - it's about as big as a thing of eye drops.Smile

Anyway, a couple of preliminary tests are telling me that the SM57 doesn't need to worry about the competition as far as guitar cabs go. The $20 newcomer doesn't work too well in that capacity.

However, I'm digging it on my voice. Very neutral and not at all hyped in the high end. For many voices it will seem far too "flat", but I've been searching for something like this for awhile.

I won't really know for sure until I use it in a mix, but so far so good.Smile

Sure.

REMINDER: you gotta right-click and "save as", or cut and paste the link. For some reason, this doesn't work for some people, although it seems to for most. If you're one of the unfortunates... sorry.Smile

Here's the new one:

and, just for comparison, here's the MXLV69ME:
www.chriscefalu.com/MXLV69ME.mp3

It's the same performance for each - I had both of them pointed at me. And neither have had any processing at all.

Please, no taunting me about my vocals.Smile I did it in one take at the end of a long day of singing, so I was pretty tired.

The server's working fine. I don't think I'll ever figure out why it doesn't work for some people though. I have noticed that people using browsers other than IE tend to have trouble - especially people on Firefox. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Yeah, me neither yet. The v69 always sounds "fuller" solo'd. But in the mix is really the test. And I often battle with a "sizzlyness" once I get to that stage with the mxl.

We'll see how the new guy fares.

Okay, the link in IE does work. I even tried de-capitalizing the letters in FF and capping "MP3" If it wasn't for the pop-up blocking, I wouldn't be using it.

Could you post an A/b in a mix? Same volume, etc?

Thanks for providing those two clips.

Well, the "in the mix" test is gonna have to wait, I'm afraid. I'm only recording solo, "me and a guitar" acoustic stuff right now. As soon as I finish this acoustic record, I'll probably get back to doing some tunes with more instruments.
