Pretty happy with the way things are turning out in my current project. This is the first mix of this particular song and probably not the one we'll use. Although, it's not bad. Please give any feedback that might help, thanks.

I think there is a lot of clarity here. sounds good. I think the drums are a bit too far back in the mix, and wish the guitars had a tiny bit more drive, or compression, but it really does sound good. well done.

spandexstallion,

thanks for your input, much appreciated. we didn't really go for that compression type sound on this project. although, i did compress on the way in but that was mostly bass, drums and vocals. didn't do hardly any compressing at mix. bass and vocals got just a touch to even them some.

Hey Izovage,
This is great man.The only suggestion I would make is to bring the guitars from the sides in just a bit to make it sound more together kind of thing, especialy for this sort of song, but that's just the matter of personal taste. And maybe just the solo gtr a bit more up front, but again personal taste.
Otherrwise, great stuff.

Great vibe! I think the guitars need to be a beefed up a bit, all the guitars are on the thin side and I always liked a beefy strat tone (SRV, Hendrix) in this type of music. I think the image is a bit too narrow and needs something to hit the outer perimeter of the stage ...drums(cymbals) maybe? Guitars too. OR Put all the guitars and drums in the same space with a great verb. Beef up those solos! Wink

Thanks BLueROom for giving it a listen.
We pretty much felt the same and as stated, this isn't actually the final mix of the song. We've since finished and move on to the last song of the project but I can say that, IMO, it came out much warmer and more polished, if I can use those words. The final mix really gives a Steely Dan feel to the song, which I don't hear at all in this mix, much rougher around the edges.

I'm sure the guys will let me post after we get it all back from mastering. There's some really good stuff in this project.

Thanks again for taking the time.

Peace
