Something about it just isn't 'right' Like i've introduced too much distortion or something from over eq'ing and compressing everything. . .I've been reworking the mix a bit and will be reposting that and would love to hear your thoughts in comparison. I mean, perhaps what i'm lacking is something that a good mastering engineer could bring?
Don't care to much about the distortion on the voice.
Could be the mp3 conversion, but I tried a +2dB at 12kHz to give it a little more air, and I liked the result.
It sounds and looks (in an editor) a little hard pumped, I would try a little less compression with a subtle rise in the top end to make it breathe more.
