Hello all,

I just finish recording a new tune called "ELEFUNKEY" and would like some feedback on the mix to this point.

If your wondering what "ELEFUNKEY" mean...1 Elephant and 1 Donkey combine both parties and you get....ELE-FUN-KEY"

Thanks for listening.

Nice tune! Nothing wrong with it really, but 3 things I would suggest:

1) write a real (like distinct) intro or just start off including vocals right there at the beginning.
2) try one of the "elefunky" chorusses (around the middle or slightly past, maybe just after the guitar solo) without guitar - bass, drums, and a lower voiced or whisper vocal - to increase the dynamics in the song.
3) write a real ending - a fade out doesn't do this song justice IMO.

Oh, and one more thing. The panning effect on some of the parts is maybe a bit overdone - may want to reconsider that. It doesn't bother me, but may have an influence on "general acceptance" (if that's what you're looking for Big Grin)

Oh Yea i forgot to mention that i agree with ending issue. It's not good. I've been stumped for a ending with this tune.

I originally had the vocal right at the beginning.lol

So made some changes since the first post and update the file.

I like the tune! It is pretty catchy.

The arrangement seems good. I love the overall vibe of the song.
I find it hard to hear the bass, but then again I am listening on headphones!! I'll listen on the monitors later.

Good Work!

Good song - sort of a Devo/Timbuk 3 thing going on. I agree with Zygon's comments and I would add a couple more suggestions.

1) On the choruses you need to write a phrase for the second two measures. You can sing elefunkey 2 times and then end the chorus with a phrase that covers the next 2 measures. When you sing 2 choruses of just Elepfunkey (8 Elefunkeys in a row) it gets tedious.
2) I personally am not crazy about the quick stops in the song where there's a moment of silence. The song has a good groove and rocks really well but these give the song a artificial computer kind of feel that I'm not sure fits that well.

I'm not sure about the quick silence in the stops either, but this is a fun tune.
I like it.

I like it. I do agree with 8th_note about the chorus.

On the 2nd and 4th lines try a line with something that rhymes (elephant and funkie donkey, politics are so damn skunky, makes me laugh more than a monkey, hunky, spunky, junkie, etc.)

Mix sounds nice and edgy, too. Snare sounds a little too fat for my tastes, but I'm old, so what the hell do I know?

I'd love to hear some Cheap Trick type chunk-chunk rhythm guitar.
