Please take a listen.
My 12 year old daughter loves the Disney Channel, this is a Pop song I wrote after high levels of Disney Channel Exposure. Let me know what you think. http://iacmusic.com/artist.aspx?id=81055 JoDee's Song Still Learning, One mistake at a time |

Great sounds. I love the space you put your mixes in. I think the drums could be brought up front a bit more. Perhaps try running some parallel compression on the drum buss to bring out the transient could help as well. . . but overall it's a great vibe.

Thanks Ryan, I didn't bring the drums up, but I let the transients shine through, seem's like it gave them a little more snap and pop. Made them sound louder with out raising their levels, at least to my ears.
Thanks again. Jeff Still Learning, One mistake at a time |

Like the song, the vocals might be a bit harsh, around 5-7k? Maybe a little less distortion on the vox too.
As for drums, maybe little more kick and a little less reverb on the the snare. Maybe just a little more bottom on that bass, I know it doesn't need much for this style of song, but I'd like to hear a little tighter and heavier bottom end. You could probably do with one less verse. Also the fade is a little abrupt Take all of this with a grain of salt cause the song is good all in all, but hey, you asked for opinions.Good Job |

I'd also like to hear a bit more presence in the drums - bass, too, for that matter. Running them both together through a dry parallel compression buss might just do the trick.
Some intonation things in the guitar sort of weird? I dunno - I'm tired, could be me. Fun groove, liked it. mud www.mudbean.com "Do ya want it to be interesting, or do ya want it to be true?" "So far, it's neither." |

Thanks for the responses,
Steppingonmars: To be honest I don't think I have the right mic for my sons voice. I used a KSM32 for all vocals right now. I only have 3 pairs of mic's a pair of KSM32's and 2 Sennheiser E906's and 2 SM57's. I also so feel the mic is a little bright for his voice. There was no eq'ing done, perhaps I could try cutting some in the areas you mentioned. MudBean: everyone so far has mentioned the drums need parallel compression and more bottom end. I have to be honest I do not know how to set up parallel compression ITB. (Cubase SX3.1) Could you give a brief description of how to set up and utilize this?? I don't have any outboard gear. The guitar ride is really raw, Les Paul plugged straight into a Boogie cranked on the clean channel. I guess I was listening to to much Earl Hooker when I recorded this, he was always a little off Thank you all for your guidance, much appreciated Addendum 12/31/07 I've been researching the parallel compression ITB with Cubase and I think I've isolated why it sounded like shit when I tried it before. I was using Voxengo Marquis Compressor and it was causing all kinds of phasing problems, which led me to the realization that I don't know shit about this stuff yet. ITB mixing differs greatly than mixing live with hardware. So I'm starting over Jeff Still Learning, One mistake at a time |

Good songwriting and arranging, Dutch! Everything works for me except for the drums not really grooving tight. Lots of rushing the beat on the kick and snare in places.
Get the drums in the pocket and I think you'll have a cool song. |
