GOt a few new ones up on my myspace page. Sorry that I cannot link directly due to restrictions. Pretty cool tunes. One from a artist in Florida and the other from Switzerland all sung in French. Mastered by Bob Ohlsson in Nashville. Very happy with results of both.
Got a new tune up from a new client in Florida. This is a pre-release promo that I was able to put up for him. This is going to be a really cool (singer/acoustic pop) record. Feels like Rusted Root, Jack Johnson and David Gray all in one. Very well thought out material and just easy to mix. Tracking was great and the material mixes itself.
;-) Hey Pop.... ya, the first 3 are new ones. The John Miller song is the most recent that I have been mixing for. Dude lives in Florida and has some really cool, well thought out, simple stuff that mixes itself.
The producer wants it that way. I actually like it. The kick is enhanced with a steven slate kick (fat thing) and then the rest is the rooms. Very little verb, etc. as requested by the producer. It has had 6 recalls, so not sure what else it would get to in all honesty. Kick is almost too big, so I am curious what you would change with it. As far as ambience too? What do you hear?
Admittedly the kick sound was very unique, however it sounded like one from a cheap drumset to me, processed with some low end enhancer. Fat is good, but it was kind of boxy. As for the ambiance thing, I'd prefer some reverb on drums, kind of long tail, but very subtle, it felt too dry to me, just didn't sit with other instruments. Again IMO, so don't pay too much attention. Haven't heard the new tune yet, but I'll check it out later.
No worries man. To each their own right. Some people love "The Wall" some people hate it. Some people like the Beatles, other not so much. It is what makes music what it is, diverse.
