This was recorded almost entirely with the stock preamps in my Fireface800. I tracked and mixed it in Sonar HS2 without effects, and then used some presets in Adobe Audition 1.5 to spruce it up a bit. I think it sounded good compared to a lot of the stuff I've done, but I can tell a difference when I don't use the HV3's. I'm thinking the difference in the depth of the HV3 and the stock RME could actually be used as a contrast technique. Like in a painting when the focal point is more finished and has more depth while the rest is out of focus, rougher and non-delineated.
