I humbly say the first mix sounded best to me, if perhaps a bit bright for my old ears.
The second mix by comparison seemed a bit muffled. It gave the vocals a cardboard boxy sound. Like the top third of the spectrum was smacked hard by a multiband compressor.
Listened with speakers and cans. Same result.
Yoose got talent though kid...

First mix: too much mid/upper mid content.

Second mix: sounds boxy, like the whole mix was EQ'd to attempt to make up for the imbalance of the first mix. If the vocals were opened up to sound more natural on this mix the whole thing would sound much better.

First by far better. Everything has it's own space...I don't have anything I think I'd do differently. Granted, I'm listneing on not stellar headphones, but...

The low mid buildup in the second seems pretty overbearing. It still has a (more) strident upper mid, but STILL manages to be cloudy due to the low mids. Cloudy AND strident is a hard combo to pull off.

Go with the first.

First one sounds better, may be a bit bright, but I am listening on computer speakers. But the first on is more opened. Second one sounds like you put a blanket over the speakers.

I have to go with the majority here. I like the open feel of the first mix, well spaced and the vocal has good presence.
The second mix is less well defined, and the vocal seems to have lost its resonance and clarity.

Forever looking for that perfect take...........
