Model SR-71 Compressor / Limiter for Recording and Broadcast Applications

The Tube Equipment Corporation SR-71 Stereo Compressor/Limiter utilizes the Dynamic-Mu gain reduction technique used by the revered Fairchild 660 and 670 of the 50's and 60's. It's unique sonic character when reducing gain is very pleasant to the ear, and quite reminiscent of records made in a previous era.

Nice lookin' piece for sure with the old timey knobs and all.

17 tubes, 9 transformers, Mu-Metal Shielded trannies. Yikes! Lotta iron in that box, it must weigh a ton. And it'll probably do double duty as a control room heater. Smile

No doubt it's a sweet piece of kit but the price point puts it outa reach for us mere mortals.

Thank you for the generous comments!

Weighing in at 44 pounds, the Tube Equipment Corporation Model SR-71 is a Dynamic Mu compressor / limiter using the original Fairchild 670 design with modern components. It has the sound of a Fairchild with greater transparency due to nickel-core transformers. It also employs faster time constants for modern percussive material. We strive to build heavy tube and transformer-laden future classics in the old world way.

So yes, she sure is a heavy beast! lol

What kind of discount would a loud mouthed forum bug get for buying?....if ya knw what I mean Smile Big Grin

I'd love to giver her a spin, but if I bought something like that I'd never be able to look my daughter in the eye when she asks why Santa Claus didn't buy her that swing set (for $5,000) and only bought her the one that fit in our yard ($1,800) and why we Santa couldn't it explain to the old lady next door why we need her yard too to fit the nice swing set. Smile

Now, if Santa would only listen to me.....I;ve been good all year.....so far..... Big Grin
