Not sure if this is the right place for this post but...

I have a great idea which I don't think has been done yet, but is probably only around the corner? Thing is, I have absolutely no programming skills and no clue how I can try to get this idea out and make some cash!

If I approach a software developer, will they simply steal my idea (if they like it), or can I cover myself somehow? I have been told I cannot patent an idea unless I know how it can be achieved, but as I have no programming know-how, I can't give the patent office that info! I am very confident that the technology for this software is available (or almost) and that it really would be great, groundbreaking stuff!!?? I know I'd buy it and this is in fact how I came up with the idea!

If anyone can offer any help I would appreciate it. I don't want to say what the idea is for obvious reasons, but the people I have told all think it is a winner!

You may have to contact a patent lawyer to draw up a contract to protect yourself.

You will also likely end up having to go partners with the programmer.
