Comprimere is a new free saturation VST effect plug-in for Windows.
Comprimere is a saturation plugin designed to simulate the hardware version of the Xeet Street Inc. Comprimere unit. Since this unit doesn't exist, this project was easy. We boiled down the concept of saturation into a few algorithms and made a plugin that sound uniquely itself. That is, we wanted it to sound like its hardware counterpart would if, in fact, it did exist.
The controls on the unit are insanely easy to operate. They act just like faders on a console, but unity gain is near the bottom of the travel. The first control, Fat, adjusts the amount of saturation and input of the signal into the unit. This is section of the unit is passed through a hi-cut so that the majority of fat remains on the bottom. The second control, Hi, allows you to throw some of the higher frequencies back into the signal. Pushing this fader to the limit allows for some great crispiness to your fattened signal. The final fader, Out, is by far the most straight forward. It allows you to boost or cut the overall volume of your signal. Since the levels inside the unit can get very hot, be sure to bring down the Out fader to avoid internal clipping.
