My August 2002 review of the VTB-1 Mic Pre / DI

The VTB-1 was my first published review. It was originally written in a post at the VS Planet. It circulated around in some of the forums. I got shit from a few people as they said it read like a magazine review. I submitted it to Digital Pro Sound and the review was accepted and published. I later became, and continue to work as, a contributing editor for Digital Pro Sound.

The review's a little "excited" and perhaps a little naive, but I don't regret anything I wrote. And, hey, we all gotta start somewhere. I still think the VTB-1 holds up well and is one of the best pres in its class. I still recommend it often to project studio owners looking to get into their first external mic pre.
