There's very little info on their site about it...knowing I have the two ADK mics--one with the really bright high end (TC) and the full bodied with a more gentle high zing (Hamburg)...I'm curious to see where this falls.

To me, it would seem that the full body of the Hamburg and the extreme but gradual high lift of the TC would not be neccessarily mutually exclusive. Since they already have the TT as a tube condenser in the same price range, it would stand to reason that this would fall more on the "German" side of the fence.

I mean, you say vintage valve condenser...what else is there? U47, U67, C12...right?

Look forward to what you think of it on the bench.

I have an A-48. A disclaimer - I only recordf solo fingerstyle acoustic guitar and classical guitar. Moveover, I use a LD mic along with a pair of SDs. So this a very limited and narrow application. I'm keeping the mic, as it compliments the other LDs I have for this same purpose - a CAD VX2 and a Microtech Gefell UMT800.

I would describe the A-48 as having a vintage sound. It is bright, but not harsh. There's a bass rolloff in the head amp, so at a distance the mic is bright and light. The mids are honest, clear and not out front. The bass is tight and clear, even when getting in close in cardioid when the proximity effect begins to kick in. It seems a bit finicky in mic placement.

I would suspect this mic would be a great vocal mic, different enough to compliment any mic locker. I like it on the guitars, but again that's because it compliments my other LDs which are warm and lush (VX2) and neutral and smooth (UMT800). I guess I would call the A-48 tight and bright.
