This 22 251 is stunning. I want to get some pictures up soon. The pic I used here from the Peluso's site doesn't do it justice.
To give some sense of where this mic falls in the pallette of mics on the market: Think a multi-pattern tube version of an AKG 414 TL II. If you know a little history, the 414 came from the AKG C-12 which was also later developed by AKG for Telefunken as the ELAM 250 and 251. It's the 251 that inspired the Peluso 22 251 - and with that mic you're getting something close to a multi-pattern tube version of an AKG 414 TL II [ with C-12 capsule ]. The 414 is a serious workhorse mic and has been an industry standard for years. Some people feel it's a little thin on some vocalists. And that's where the Peluso 22 251 goes one better. It's still great on all the same types of applications as the 414, but also offers a fuller, richer sound than the 414.
The 22 251 is going for under $1000 street price. Hand-built in the USA.
More soon. Just wanted to jot down some notes as I'm testing.
