Hello Forum I found this link through the massivemastering website and I love a good mastering forum.

I am wondering if there is a final gloss you use? By that I mean what do you consider to be the icing on the cake?

A great mix with all the tracks sounding just right into a limiter? Just curious if there is a well-known but not by me, last touch?

thanks.

At the risk of sounding typical, each mix's "final touch" is going to be determined by the mix. Some are ridiculously simple (a limiter - or no limiter) some are chains of pretty much half the racks.

John,

Glad to hear that. That is what I intuited but i thought there might be some "icing on the whole cake." but that would seem like a limiter like you said, or the fact that none is needed.

cool

What I mean is that the "icing" is going to be different for each mix to a point - If it's "asking" for something, that decision is made on a "case-by-case" basis.
