I have a simple question : is the Pheonix compressor (thermionique culture) adapted for mastering ? I mean, what about the manley vari-mu in comparison ?
There are no detents on the Phoenix. Personally I love the sound of the Phoenix and like it much more than the Manley. The Phoenix can add a glow and be very clean. The Manley was to "sugary" for me, for lack of a better term.
I would definitely go for the Phoenix over the Manley. Now others may disagree.
The only way to know for sure it to try them both yourself.
