I like it and all but i know it could be better...

One thing i dont like right now is how my instrumental is interfering with my vocals.....And i think i should turn my chorus up a little bit..

Feedback is HIGHLY needed and appreciated...I'd like to know how can I improve my mastering...I made this instrumental too so if mastering in that is effecting my probelms i can fix that too...Thanks

I can't comment on your mix right now because I don't have speakers on this computer, BUT, your question is throwing me off and probably the reason why you don't have responses. Your questions really pertain to mixing not mastering. Are you looking for comments on mixing?

Hmmm well...When I say "master" its when its compressed, eq'ed, reverbed, and what not..."mixing" would be the adjustments of my volumes...Im sure my definitions of the two are wrong but thats what im asking tho [but please correct me if im wrong, tell me what are the two for future references =]..]..

But its mainly, "How was my job on this track, does it sound good to you, what should I do to improve" and what not...

compression, EQ, reverb is all stuff done at the tracking mixing stage. While there is some compression at the mastering stage and maybe a very little EQ and reverb it seems you are looking for ideas about your mix.

Let me preempt my response by telling you that I have worked on TONS of raps songs and I write beats on the side as well. Anyway, what I hear here is some overcompression in some areas and lack of clarity in others. I think you may have overcompressed certain things to make the mix loud, but you did that in the wrong stage. You SHOULD compress the vocals quite a bit for rap music, but you need to add some clarity(don't know what gear you use, that could help), boost the highs a bit. As for the rest of the music, I'm assuming most of it is sampled, so I'd compress sparingly and wait for mastering time to compress more. Just get your levels right and your EQ right first. The mix needs a little air and some more stereo spread too. You may need to think about subtle use of reverbs, panning and EQ before mastering as well. The snare needs to come up too. You want that shit to slam nearly as hard as the kick without taking over the vocals. Bring the vox forward more as well. I actually think these are minor areas to fix and you could have a pretty nice mix with minimal work.

mixing stage: get all your INDIVIDUAL settings right (EQ, Compression, verbs, effects ...etc...)
-the idea is to get the song pretty much done and mixed down to a two track stereo song

mastering stage: final touches to the ENTIRE 2trk stereo mix, loudness, sparkle, punch etc...

BLueROom - So where do you hear overcompression? But i definenlty need air in this track and clarity..What do you recommend me to use to give that? Thats what I dont know...Panning isnt the same as sterio spreading right? I didnt know that about the snare, ill definenlty do that..Ill definently take this reply seriously..

But there's one thing i dont get...How can i get it to a two track sterio song? Isnt it already 2? [left and right]...Or am I misunderstanding that part? lol...

But thanks for the help so far, i really appreciate it..
