Yeah, I've had the pleasure of hearing the N800s driven by, if I recall correctly, Mark Levinson monoblocks and a Levinson 3200-series preamp. Yow. I haven't heard the Ms but the N800s were indeed a bit creamy and smooth, I can see what you mean.

John, you ever experimented with different speaker cables? I'm still amazed at what big differences there are in cable. Especially on something as good as those 802s, a couple hundred bucks on some used cables could be a real eye opener. You'll have to excuse me for sounding like car salesman! Frown Wink Big Grin

Ah, man, Bryston is just solid solid stuff. I dig 'em. One of my studio regrets is going with Hafler over Bryston, mainly cause I found an ebay deal on the Haf. Cursed Hafler Mad It's not a terrible sounding amp, but kind of unreliable and touchy and it really heats up, even when driving efficient speakers. Brystons are more detailed and you just can't beat that warranty!

Finally done remodeling... Not that anyone would notice from the photo (that updated itself on the original post) - New carpeting, new lighting... DAW, subwoofer...

Ripped the whole place apart top to bottom. Wound up with around 50 POUNDS of "extra" audio cable - much of which I have no idea where it came from! That's what you get I suppose...

Did some more "mods" to FrankenDesk while I had the chance - installed 6 "J" hooks around the outside to use as cable channel. Now, even the floor looks pretty! Also slotted out some access through the privacy panel so I can get to the backs of the racks easier.

Sorry - I get excited easily. Whoo hoo... Carpeting and a track light... Huzzah. Juggle

WOW John,

Beautiful work and website.

On the incredibly littel chance I ever produced anything worthy of mastering I will make you my first contact. I am just a songwriter hobby musician that has always done all original work with bands and want to do some home recording/producing.

One question on the B studio...what did you modify on the Whardale Diamond Pro's? I am assuming you have the passives since they use Sony amplification.

Those aren't the Pro's - Those are the original Diamond Series (and they're NOT shielded!).

I just had a buddy (who is much more of an electronics geek than I) hotrod the crossover just a whisker. It was very smooth, but I was "aware" of the crossover (as they were in the near field, but weren't designed for it), and that drives me nuts.

Wharfedale was interested about it when they were developing the powered ones, but I told them that I was using them in the near-field at the time, which they already took into consideration.

In other words, they'd be just fine stock at this point. Hell, they were fine anyway. I was just being over-picky.

Thats your job! Thanks for recomending the Diamond Pro 8.2's over at Homerecording...I just love them and those Alesis MK1's were soooo bad. No stereo image.

If I ever get my digital camera back from repairs I will post a pick of my home built recording desk somewhere.

You know I spent several eye straining minutes looking for the POD until I scrolled down to see your update about the picture LOL....I just could not see it anywhere.

Hey, glad to hear about your Diamonds -

They should give me a piece of the action... Hoppingmad

Naw, I'm glad that people are digging them - Some freaky M.E. from the U.K. turned me on to those things. First set of speakers I ever bought just on the recommendation of one person - who I never met and had no particular reason to trust... Glad I did though... I've gone through more speakers in here than I can remember over the last few years. They're the only ones that I've held on to through all the rest. Not that I think the 802's are going anywhere, but those 8.2's a pretty special.

Just did! Very special. I see we run a similar "design scheme" - right down to the "atomic clock!"

I love the video monitor bridge...
