Hello all, I've been using Peak 5 for any "mastering" and CD burning that I do, but it appears to have a bug in it. It works fine for CDs with a few tracks, but for a recent project I had to put 13-14 tracks on a CD. Out of 8 CDs, one of them works properly. I either get a burst of white noise at the beginning of some of the tracks, some don't work at all, or the last couple seconds of the last track is cut off. I checked over at the Peak forums, and apparently it's a common problem, and it hasn't been fixed yet.

So, I'm fed up with Peak, and I'm interested in what other options might be available. I'd like to be able to arrange the tracks, apply effects to each individually, crossfade between tracks, set track gaps, burn a redbook CD, etc. Basically, everything that Peak is supposed to do. What are you using?

I don't think so, actually. It's also a bit on the expensive side. At the end of the day, I need something that works. If that means laying out some money, so be it. Just thought there might be a simpler sollution. Maybe use Peak for mastering, and then burn with something else? It's only the burning process that doesn't work properly. And, I'm hoping they'll fix it on their next upgrade.

I'm tracking/mixing in DP, fwiw.

CD Architect does all of that quite nicely. But not on a Mac. Wink

Hee hee. Sorry man, I knew that probably wasn't gonna go over too well. FWIW, I think Sony should make CD Architect (and all their major apps for that matter) available for the Mac platform. It'd be a win-win situation for both Mac users and Sony IMO.

Well, I upgraded to Peak 5.2 (from 5.0), and upgraded OSX from 10.4.something to 10.4.7, and the problem seems to have fixed itself. So, until something else goes crazy, I'm all set. Which is nice, because I do like Peak.

Samplitude does run on Macs. It also supports a lot of hardware. You can get Samplitude Master which is the cheaper option.

Samplitude doesn't support the Mac OS... But if you can get Windows running on a Mac, then Samplitude should also run.

Samplitude is a killer program and with V9 about to be released (hopefully shortly) it's about to get a whole lot better. Yay

Cancel my last post, it's still buggered. I'm getting pretty pissed off with software in general now.

I am also a Mac User and have been using DSP Quattro. It is relatively inexpensive, and generally burns CDs accurately on the Mac.
I have been generally happy with the product and find the company (in Italy) is very responsive (Stefano). I hope that this helps.

You might want to check into the options from Sonic Solutions... especially Sound Blade.
