It depends on how many channels you need. Also what sampling rates you want. In that price range RME is putting out really nice stuff. Quite a few people here use them, including me, Ted Perlman, and dirtyraggamuffin.

Id be happy with a 4 input. THe sample rate Im usually using is 44.1,but from what I hear,48 is better? THe range on my gear is 32 to 48. Looking for that perfect tone |

Honestly if I were you I would save a bit more and spend the money on the Apogee Rosetta 800. I bought one and my god it is nice. Just very accurate, clean and the clock on it is amazing. Plus it is upgradeable and HD upgradeable if you ever go that route. I landed mine at the GC for around $2200.00 and it was the best purchase for my studio. Very much a noticeable diff in the mix with both Depth and clarity.

Hmm... Save a bit more and go for Rosetta 800, Lynx Aurora8 or Lavry 4496(4ch).
