Hi, I about to have my Album mastered at a pro mastering studio in London, I was considering purchasing high quality CD's for the mastering before I went into the studio, so I didn't have to use thier own stock and have to pay the higher price of using their stock.
Could anyone recommend what CD's one would use for a master CD. Thank you for your help with this.. Ian |

If they're like the majority of places, they're using Tayio Yuden.
If they're charging extra for stock, that seems odd... Unless they're using some freaky $10 "Gold" discs (which I can get almost anywhere for $1). |

Hi John,
If you don't mind me asking, what is so special about the Taiyo Yuden that mastering houses use them? Do they last longer? Thank you. |

They were the first, they're still the best. Although admittedly, their QC has been a little sketchy over the last couple years IME. I've had plenty of CD's just "go bad" after (X number) of years... Never a TY if I recall...
But they're the most consistent -- Even on a "less wonderful" batch, the overall E11, E21 & E31 errors are many times predictable and consistent from disc to disc. |

Thank you for replying back.
Can these be purchased anywhere or do I need to get them on ebay etc.. Thanks. |

Not usually in the consumer stores, but almost any normal supplier --- U-Line, Rima, even SuperMediaStore.
