I was wondering what speed you guys use for burning your Redbook CD's?
I have Wavelab and have something coming up where I have to burn off a bunch of CD's. I see that Wavelab starts @ 1x burning up to 48x. |

There are only a couple of drives that can burn at 1x - And it's really not better in most cases.
I've found (along with many other studies) a "sweet spot" at around 20% of a drive's rated speed to have the lowest errors, consistenly, regardless of the drive make or media brand. So 12-16x on a 52x drive is just around "wonderful" in most cases. Granted - 1x was the "normal" speed years ago - You know, when a drive's top speed was 2-4x. |
