Wassup everybody...
i'm just gonna be blut...
i do hip hop...
i use a adobe audition 2...
i have a usb studio condensor mic
and my mixing and mastering process is like this...
i record my vocals...
put my effects on them as i record them...
i make sure there is no clipping in vocals or beat...
mute the beat, mixdown all of my vocals by themself into an acapella...
save this file at 320kbps...
go back...insert the 320kbps file back in to the multitrack...unmute the beat...
mix the vocals with the beat...
now this is were i'm kinda unsure about things..
i convert the song from 32bit to 16bit and normalize at 99% to ensure theres no clipping...
save the mixdown at 256kbps..
viola!!
Is there anything you all recommend i do..or change?
getatme..thanks!
p.s: my "Recording Bit Depth" is 32-bit
and stereo panning mode is:logarithmic(left/right cut)
my "Bounce Bit Depth" is 16-bit

Without trying to sound "harsh" -

(A) You should probably be posting this in the recording forum.

(B) You should definitely get a book on basic recording techniques.

If you're happy with the sound quality you're getting and it's more or less a hobby thing, there you go. But:

Pretty much all of it.

It wasn't my intention to not help... But you're in need of knowing the absolute basics of digital audio. It's not something you're going to catch up on from a few forum posts.

Man, thats some wack way of recording but hey, if it works, you go bruva! Smile

Gotta agree with John though, get some fundamentals and your stuff will prolly turn out better.

Your first three songs all start out the same, yet you're burnin serious traffic to your space (lmfao,) so who am I to judge! Seems to work for ya..Personally, the sonics could be better but the way you're goin, and with the "A&R" interest, maybe the recording responsibility will be in more experienced, capable hands in no time, so it's all good....GLHF!

P.S. I agree with John on this being in the wrong forum, too.

A sticky in this case would be several hundred pages long.

But there is a primer at www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm -- But I honestly don't know if it gets "that" basic.

G'day Omega, just wanted to add my 5 cents worth. I think that sometimes we ask questions in the hope of hearing answers that encourage (according to our own judgement), but sometimes, to be helpful, the answer is honest and to the point. I know this from my own experience this has sometimes been a bit deflating, but was always a learning experience.

What John wrote in his first reply to you was helpful. As a Mastering engineer of some years experience, he was giving you his honest reply to your post - which you asked for. It may of not been what you wanted to hear, but it was intended to be helpful.

I am a computer professional in my 50's who has been learning sound engineering for about 5 years by trial and error. I assumed that my years of computer experience in both hardware and programming would see me through, but when I started asking the guys on SF about what I was doing - ouch!. Bricks

But by listening to them I'm learning heaps, and so will you.
I encourage you to keep asking questions regardless of how the answers sound. We've all got imperfect personalities but we all try our best.

Keep on experimenting Omega, and don't stop asking questions.

By the way, I found Tweakheadz a very useful site. Smile

I woke up this morning - WOW!
