Since Plextor no longer includes the wonderful Plextools software, and compounded by the fact that the current Plextor burners are mostly crap and unreliable, I'm searching for comparable error checking software like Plextools. John (or anyone else), do you have any recommendations?

Thanks!

NOS Plextor drives. No one has come up with anything else that I know of. I bought a few Sony drive as burning drives recently (and they work fine) that have some sort of Nero B.S. that comes with them... Claims to check C1, C2, CU, etc. It's ridiculous. Every pass gives you completely different results (that aren't even similar to a QC pass on a Plextor).

Other than a Clover, it's not looking good...

You can get Plexwriters all day long on e-bay even the older scsi drives. Also John I have a question about the Orban 642b Black Face EQ.The vernier adjusters.I'm wondering what reference do you use to know where your at with them. Lets say I set the Main Knob Frequency at 2Khz, If I wanted to fine tune the frequency with Vernier, does this just focus the frequency to a tighter tolerence or does it go above and below the set frequency a certain amount. Regards Skip

Geez, that's been a while - If I recall, it was a fine-adjust up/down from the broad setting. Handy... Wish I still had that thing (the 642B)...
