Can someone give me some direction on mastering is good to do a low shelf or add highs ? My mixes sound muddy too warm. My friends is clear. Same equipment.

You should be fixing that during *tracking* -- Or at the latest, mixing.

If they're *your* mixes, you shouldn't be waiting for the mastering phase to fix such things. The same equipment hardly means anything - The core sounds mean everything.
