I was thinking it would be cool to post songs showing where we are at at the beginning of this just as a reference point. At the very least, we could be like, my god I sucked. I'd be the first one embarassed in something like this. I REALLY am not very good at all. Just a thought.

I don't know...I think that even in mixes that people think "sucked" there are usually cool things going on. You can argue for standards in particular sounds but I dont really believe a mix is bad if you think it feels good.
Perhaps rather than posting "before" mixes that will be negatively judged for mistakes-to-be-fixed you can post new mixes and say how something in the course caused you to do something differently. For example, "I posted a mix at http://blah.com/mysong.aif and when mixing I listened to different speakers. I think as a result the piano sounded more smooth because when I hit one pair of speakers it sounded ugly in a way I fixed." -B |
