No problem Rami,
Learning is a good place to always stay IMO.
Gear is gear and it is very cool stuff but, in the end it's always going to come down to who's using it. I believe that you can have the best song in the world, a great performance of it and the worst gear in the world won't hide the power of a great song played well. On the other hand, give the best of the best of the best the worst song and lousy performances, and with the world's best equipment they will not be able to make that lousy song anything that it is not already.

Hi all,

I have my studio in a small open ended den. I can't seem to find the right placement for the reference monitors... they sound...dry..right now. My den has a patio door... any ideas here?

I have a digi001/protools 6.4 setup with Waves Platinum. I'm using some KRK Rokit 5 monitors for reference... i'm saving for the sub.. i'm missing the sub..low..end with these speakers.

I have a rode NT1 for vocals

I'm using a Korg Triton Studio for the rest.

I do all my music in a spare room which my wife and I use as an office. I have a very basic setup for composing and recording:
Athlon 2400xp
Radeon 8600XT (I also game a lot, but plan to make a separate, netless system for music only)
Audigy Soundcard
Altec Lansing 2:1 speakers (I'll get proper monitors for the new system)
Fruity Studio 4.5
Various Free VST plugins
Behringer 5 channel Mixer
Tube Ultragain Mic100 preamp
MXL Condenser Mic
Shure SM57 Dynamic Mic
Behringer Bass V-Amp effects/amp simulator
A few guitars and basses
A small USB keyboard

I'm a rank novice when it comes to recording and mixing, up until now I've just been experimenting to get the sounds I want without really knowing what I'm doing- good to finally learn from someone who knows! Thanks, Bruce...

I mostly record acoustic and traditional music on location. I try to find good sounding rooms in rural areas where the musicians and I can hang for the duration.

For listening at home I run a mac into a Metric Halo 2882 into Rockit 8s. I have a small room treated with compressed fiberglass. I alternate with beyerdynamic DT770s and then bring mixes around to the usual suspects (car, jambox).
