OK, now the hyperlink to the file has been added the problem is solved.
Thanks!

But with a few more videos available for download, it may cost you a lot of dollars once word spreads about the quality of the course. Are you ready for the possiblity of Gigabytes of traffic each month? I'd hate to see you out-of-pocket because you under-estimated the popularity of your work. Maybe it would be cheaper/safer to link to torrent files rather than pay for them to be hosted?
Perhaps in America traffic and hosting is cheap enough to not worry about too much, but here you can be charged 100s of Euros for going over the agreed bandwidth, and they usually lock your website until you pay!

Wow thanks, I did not consider that. With only the bulk email I sent out I had 20,000 hits yesterday. This can build up very quickly...

Thanks so much for this awesome course segment Bruce. I especially enjoyed the section on effects automation usage in the guitar solo.
Really nice stuff!
And long live the "noise" LOL

And for those of us that want to automate our effects like Bruce did (but don't have all the fancy stuff): simply do all your effect moves and record just the effect ouputs to an unused track. Voila - instant automation.

I'd sure love to see a .wmv file available. I appreciate you making a RealVideo version, but RA.RV is like a virus, when it comes down to all the crap they put in your registry and is also basically legal spyware, so I have nothing to do with it Frown

As is, I can only view QT in a 3" window and that simply doesn't work. I read where a guy said to "save as" and open from the desktop, but there isn't an option to do that when I R clik on the vid.

Thanks Bruce!

It is great to hear and see some real life examples. I would love to hear some more deconstruction on other tracks. Hearing the original, the final product and your thinking in the process is a great help!

That's a very good idea! And if that ends up working out, then something that I think would be really helpful also (but didn't figure it would work out due to the extremely high bandwidth it would cause) is for Bruce to upload the raw tracks of a project or two and guide us through a mix. Letting us work "side-by-side" so to speak with Bruce in our own environment as he gives tips and techniques to try to help bring out the best in each track to work better with the overall mix. Maybe even give us some things to try that don't sound good just so we can hear what "not" to do also.... Wink

Anyways, it's just a thought. Big Grin

Man...I feel like a boob...
I still can't get quick time to install...I've tried about 8 or 10 times, it gets so far on install, then tells me I need 2000 or XP to run it. Even after I installed the other version for ME (which I have) and whatever the other one was. Am I missing something?
I've had QT on my computer in the past (before format) and never had a problem... Bricks
D'OH!

any ideas from you knowledgeable ones?
Thanks...........Kel

I agree with Tekker on his idea. I don't know what I did but quicktime is working again for me. The videos were great, bruce. I can't wait for the bass eq and multi-compression segment. I'm really glad you have done this. I really had no idea about the automation techniques you were using on the guitar solo. I've been laughing it up this past weekend especially on synth tracks. I'm so pleased with the results that's all I can do. Thanks a bunch. Oh yeah, small announcement. A couple friends of mine have been going to a local studio with a ProTools setup and one of the engineers said he'd teach me ProTools and they are looking for an assistant engineer and someone to produce rap/r&b;(not my passion, but I can do it) tracks so I've got a shot at proving I'm worth something. I'm going up there sometime in the next two weeks for a friday or saturday of sessions. Wish me luck, I'm exstatic.

Try uninstalling whatever versions of QT you can find, also manually delete any remaining copies wherever it may reside. Then run regclean. Reboot, then reinstall the proper version for ME.

OR...

Upgrade to XP... Coffee

i have a mac g-5 and i saved the intro to my drive.
i still only get the little window when i open it, when i enlarge it to say 6'' it is to blurry to see.
is this what every one else is getting?
i just listen to what he say because the videos are to small for me to see.
not complaining at all just want to make sure i am not missing something.

Yes, even though I can expand the window, it is very blurry - and I have a very good monitor I run @ 120hz.

This is great stuff, but for me, the videos are just to hard to see, clearly, to really follow whats going on.

Future clips will be clearer, but I want to stay with the "camera pointed at me and a screen" approach.

I will also incorporate additional graphics and screen shots.

Next clips due soon.

The videos were very helpful to me. I have done some similar volume riding to my own tracks. I tend to have dynamic guitar parts that often are not clear enough in the mix (i.e. sustaining a chord, the last in a progression.) This tip makes ahuge difference.

I found that the software programs I use (Digital Performer, and Ableton Live) allow for similar mix automaion. Yippee!
