This is one of my first recordings from 2002 done simply to show the folks that I could record them. Two mics, SM57 facing the father, MXL 2001 facing the daughter. They never called back. Another case of people wanting recording services for free.
Thanx!

The girl had a beautiful voice and the dad did the harmony well. Too bad they flaked out on you. One of them do the guitar? Their voices are well recorded, especially the girl's. Dunno about the stereoizing of the guitar though, heh-heh.

Kind of odd in a way, sung by a father and daughter, as I'd always thought of it as a romantic love song. But hell, not much you can do, as the engineer, about what songs your clients perform. Big Grin

Tim,
Thanx for the feedback.
Yeah, odd song for a father and daughter, I suppose.
The girl's voice was a perfect match for that cheap-ass Chinese mic. She was about two feet away from it, too.
The father played the guitar.
They had just returned from St. Louis where a studio had given them free time. I heard the results, and the mixes were drowning in long reverb tails. They didn't understand that it didn't sound good, regardless of how good their singing was.
I love stereo acoustic guitar. I had to do it. Smile

First put a cd into your computer and then upload it into Itunes. Under "Advanced" (at the top) convert the highlighted tune to an mp3. Then drag the mp3 to your desktop. When you post click "add attachment" and "browse". Click on your mp3 icon on the desktop and your there.

Hey Hethaerto,

I was listening to this, and it really is nice. While I was listening, I was making a few mental notes on what I thought may have helped it.......until.. I read your mic selection.

I was almost floored, how you got THOSE 2 mics to sound that good! You must be MacGyver man. Can you make a bomb out of chewing gum, and a tampon?

Sounded nice!

Thanx, Doug.
I took the SM57 track and re-recorded it through a delay effect at around 10 to 15 milliseconds to a second track.
Besides stereoizing the guitar, it was necessary simply to draw out the father's voice.
